It's been a while since I last posted progress
on the painting I am working on, mainly because the maroon reds that I
have used are so hard to reproduce accurately in a photo. I feel as if I
have a love/hate relationship with them. Its a real
struggle getting it to look even vaguely like the actual painting and
has kind of put me off taking many photos along the way. I love the
look of them and the atmosphere they create in the painting itself
though.
I just have a few more glazes on Mira's sweater to do. Then this section will be finished and I can start on the reflection of Mira in the paino.

Oh I totally understand about getting the colours in a photo true to the painting. It is so frustrating. do you use a program such a photoshop? Sometimes this works but other times it just seems to make it worse.

I use both photoshop and lightroom if needed Jessica. I find lightroom has a little more ability to adjust things but its still hard with some colours to get an accurate rendition. There are always compromises you have to make.
DeleteI missed WIP 1 but have now caught up, Ona.
ReplyDeleteThis looks a more sedate pace to be painting at. I share your frustration with cameras, although I confess I'm the World's worst photographer. I'm getting to grips with hair and have just painted my first beard which was not as I anticipated.
Please continue with the posts (I shall imagine the true colours)
Hi John, Yes it is a good change not to be painting something that has such energy. It been a hectic couple of weeks so I needed something I could just turn to in the odd moment and not feel hurried. I will have to go and look at your progress :)
